Priv. Doz. Dr. habil. Andreas Glindemann

Priv. Doz. Dr. habil. Andreas Glindemann is adaptive optics and interferometry scientists at ESO and lecturer (Privat Dozent) at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich since March 2000. He received his PhD in Physics from the Technical University of Berlin in 1989 with a thesis on Partial Coherent Imaging. He then spent two years as a postdoc at Imperial College in London working with Prof J.C. Dainty on speckle interferometry. Between 1992 and 1997 he was a staff member at the MPIA in Heidelberg, designing and building adaptive optics systems, e.g. the laser guide star adaptive optics system ALFA. In Heidelberg, he also developed a comprehensive simulation programme for imaging through turbulence that is used to investigate the requirements for multi-layer adaptive optics systems. In 1997, he joined ESO, leading and coordinating the development of the VLT Interferometer, its subsystems and instruments, as Head of the VLTI Group until 2006. In the followig, he wrote the book "Principles of Stellar Interferometry" which was published by Springer.
