Prof. Dr. Til Birnstiel

Til Birnstiel is a Professor for Theoretical Astrophysics at the University Observatory Munich since 2017. He received his degree from the University of Heidelberg in 2010, working at the Max-Planck-Institute for Astronomy. After postdoctoral positions in Heidelberg and Munich, he became a Research Fellow at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge (MA, USA). After a postdoctoral position at the MPIA, Heidelberg he received an ERC Starting Grant (1.4 Million Euro) to start a new research group at the LMU Munich.

  • Radio and IR observations of planet forming disks Structure and evolution of planet forming disks Astrophysical processes in the Solar System
